Firefighting

Although various mechanisms are in place to avoid fires, they remain amongst the worst enemies of process plants. When this worst-case scenario occurs, field operators must know how to react effectively in no time. Throughout this module, trainees learn about different firefighting means and when to apply them. For instance, they will learn what type of fire extinguisher to choose for an electrical fire, and so on. Operators are also tested on how to apply firefighting know-how in a sudden emergency situation , one where every second counts. When the trainees respond incorrectly to the simulated emergency, they visually experience the consequences of their mistakes and get the chance to try again.

Why take this course

The consequences of fires can be devastating when plant operators fail to take the right actions. Practical training is the best way of enhancing preparation to such high- risk emergency situations.
